[灰色篇]
首先，grey 和 gray 只差一個字母，到底哪個拼法才是對的呢？
答案：grey 是英式拼法，gray 是美式拼法，只要記得 E=English，A=American 就可以囉

「毫無色彩」形容沒有特色、很無趣的人

get gray hair from (someone or something)
因某人/某事而長了灰髮(白髮)
形容為某人或某事感到特別擔心、壓力或不安。

the grey pound
pound指的是英鎊，換言之「灰色的英鎊」指的就是銀髮族的$$，形容老年族群的消費力（主要用於英國）
*As the baby-boom generation enters old age, many different markets are trying to capitalize on the burgeoning influence of the grey pound. 隨著嬰兒潮世代進入老年期，許多不同的市場都在嘗試從新興的老年經濟中獲取利潤。
all cats are grey by night
所有的貓在晚上都是灰色的
意思是到了夜晚，外觀就不重要了（因為很難看得見）。
*A: "I can't believe you're going on a date with someone you've never met before! What if you don't think he's attractive?" B: "Ah, all cats are grey by night, so it will be fine." 甲：「真不敢相信你會和一個素未謀面的人約會。如果你覺得他不吸引人，那要怎麼辦？」乙：「唉呀，到了晚上，所有貓都是灰色的，沒關係啦。」
grey area
灰色地帶
形容沒有明確定義、介於兩個極端之間的事物或概念。（主要用於澳洲）
*There's a large grey area regarding whether the use of the new surveillance technology is lawful. 關於使用這種新的監視技術是否合法，存在很大的灰色地帶。
the men in grey suits
形容在幕後做重要決策、不為大眾所知的商務人士、政客或政府官員，可說是幕後的操縱者、幕後黑手
*It's easy to get disillusioned as a voter when you know most decisions get made by the men in grey suits. 身為選民，一旦知道大多數的決策都來自幕後操縱者，便很容易感到希望幻滅。
grey matter = little grey cells
gray matter是腦部灰質層，引申有頭腦、智力的意思
*We could use your gray matter as we try to solve this problem. 我們解決這個問題時，可以運用你的聰明才智。
*The detective credited his little grey cells as the reason he was able to solve such a complex and mysterious case. 偵探認為自己能解決這個複雜而神秘的案件，都要歸功於他聰明的頭腦。
Dorian Gray
Dorian Gray 就是英國作家王爾德的小說《格雷的畫像》的主角格雷，他的畫像會變老，而他自己不會，所以用來暱稱看起來都不會老、比實際年齡年輕的人。
*Your grandfather must be like Dorian Gray because he doesn't look 70, let alone 90! 您的祖父就像格雷一樣，看上去連70歲都不到，更不用說90歲！
