5. 說話不要重複
有時候會受到中文語法影響
重複同樣的意思，讓句子變得冗長
My husband usually returns back at 9:45 p.m. in the night.→My husband usually returns at 9:45 p.m.
No people like bitter-tasting salad.→No people like bitter salad.
What he had said about the mountain are true facts.→What he had said about the mountain are facts.
6. 避免主字重複
句子裡重複出現一個字
會讓句子變得冗長不清楚
這個時候就要把重複的字換掉
The school has problems solving those problems.→The school has a hard time solving those problems.
This interesting teacher knows how to make an uninteresting subject interesting.→The interesting teacher knows how to jazz up a dull subject.
7. 釋放句子動能
有動詞的句子才有活力
將名詞或形容詞還原成動詞
讓句子更簡潔、更有活力
There is insufficient evidence for our recommendation of an expanded investigation.→Insufficient evidence prevents us recommending an expanded investigation.
The primary difference between the two boys in this story is one of moral character.→The two boys in this story differ primarily in moral character.
8. 遵守平行法則
同樣的思想就要用同樣的文法結構來表達
寫作的時候要注意前後語句的主詞、語態(主被動)、代名詞、所有格、動詞和句式一致
Maybe one should not complain, but I would need to have a little more recognition.→Maybe I should not complain, but I would like a little more recognition.
The choir does not sing as one and some accompaniment is needed.→The choir does not sing as one, for it needs some accompaniment.
